For those who didn't know, I hold the title of Grade Six Spelling Bee Champion. Yes, it is yet another milestone to add to my list of accomplishments. My present command of the English language has ridden on this very fact indeed. But lately, my confidence in spelling has dwindled to an inability to commit words to paper without a sturdy eraser in hand.
See, I just learned that there exists a rapper who goes by the name of Fifty Cents. Well, I called him Fifty Cents until I was so shamelessly corrected, "Uh, Rebecca, it's Fifty Cent, not Cents". But if I really wanted to be kind, I would do this rapper a favour and inform him that his name is grammatically incorrect. Of course, in doing so, I may stand to be corrected again with a punch in the face.
It's all quite confusing really, because this other rapper, Jay-Z is not at all spelt like J-Lo. It's Jay-Z and not J.Z.. And Eminem, to my shocking surprise, is not at all spelt like M&M, which made perfectly good sense to me when I first spelt this person's name.
And perhaps the funniest thing is, well, I am being perfectly serious.
